History

Joseph Chiarella opened the first Creative Kitchens showroom in 1966 in a small space on Monmouth Street in the up-and-coming town of Red Bank, New Jersey. He realized back then that the kitchen was about to become the heart of the home and that designing its layout and look might require a specialized approach. His love of family life, his innate design talent and the public’s growing interest in the modern-day kitchen led to the establishment of Creative Kitchens. His son David would later take this small business and develop it into the specialty shop that it is today. With David’s help, the showroom relocated to a larger space on Shrewsbury Avenue and business began to grow.

After a number of years apprenticing with his father, David eventually assumed control of the family business and made the decision to move the showroom to a more visible location – 19 East Front Street. Being situated in Red Bank on the cross road from Colts Neck to Rumson, David took advantage of the high street exposure by filling the entire storefront with a fully operating kitchen display. By showcasing upscale appliances, beautiful cabinet finishes and fresh colors, the new showroom portrayed a feeling of sophistication and warmth, and presented David’s design talents perfectly. With this visual stimulation in play, David saw potential for the business to provide an even more detailed level of design and service.

For more than 50 years Creative Kitchens has served the community well, in good times and in bad times. Now, the showroom has gracefully transitioned into a complete design studio located in a new space at 15 Mechanic Street, still in Red Bank. The studio features fully detailed cabinet displays, countertop options, appliances, modern-day presentation capabilities, and all the trimmings that make a kitchen project complete. This fresh, intimate setting allows Kevin, the current owner, to continue to deliver that high level of personal attention and service for which it has become well-known.
